Genesis 25:1-2 gives an introduction to a little known story: "Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah. 2 And she bare him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.
This passage is very insightful in that it reveals that Abraham had six additional sons that most individuals are not aware of. The majority of Bible studies on Abraham only reveal his first two sons, Ishmael and Isaac.
One of the strongest revealed truths discovered through a deeper study of this story is that Keturah was not a Hebrew. She was an Ethiopian woman. And, it is along this narrative that a story unfolds exposing how Abraham's emotional decision caused a ripple effect in his family.
As indicated in Genesis 25:1-6, Abraham sent his six sons from Keturah away to live apart from their family. In spite of Abraham's motives being rooted in a desire to help God preserve the birthright of Isaac, Abraham's actions created far reaching repercussions in the lives of his six sons.
"Keturah Revealed" takes a detailed look, through these Abrahamic shaded glasses, at some of these repercussions that still plague many people of color in the present age. A few of those issues that "Keturah Revealed" examines are spiritual identity theft, the orphan syndrome, and generational curses stemming from hatred and unforgiveness.
Through "Keturah Revealed," it is our hope that historical events from Abraham's life help identify issues that cause shipwrecks in the lives of many individuals.
